Ariana Grande and Sean Hayes recently reminisced about their time together on Hairspray Live! from nearly a decade ago, sharing some heartwarming and funny memories. During an appearance on Hayes’ podcast SmartLess, co-hosted by Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, Hayes brought up a moment from their time working on the show that still stands out to him.
He recalled one of the “cutest, greatest things” Ariana did during that time. According to Hayes, they were sitting in a makeup chair when Ariana casually mentioned that a group of them would be heading to her house later that night. She excitedly invited him to join, saying they were going to have a wild night, get “totally wasted,” and then have a sleepover, with her mom making pancakes the next morning.
Ariana, a bit surprised by the memory, responded, “Did I say that? That’s crazy.” Hayes continued, recalling how sweet and thoughtful her invitation was, adding, “And that was so sweet that you invited me, and I turn to you and I go, ‘Ariana,’ and you said, ‘Yeah,’ and I said, ‘I am 45 years old!’”
The moment was a source of laughter, with Arnett jokingly commenting that Hayes had pointed out his age but would still show up for pancakes. Ariana chimed in, saying she couldn’t believe that was something she would’ve said, though she did remember the cast party and described it as “hilarious.”
On the professional side, Ariana’s year is shaping up to be a big one. She’s been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked, adding to her already impressive career achievements.
