Shah Rukh Khan finally explains meaning of his film title Dunki

Following the huge success of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his third release of the year, Dunki. The superstar has collaborated with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, who has previously directed blockbusters like 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju, for the social comedy based on the concept of illegal immigration.

Dunki is an Indianized spelling of the donkey route, a word used to describe the routes taken by illegal immigrants as they cross international borders. On Monday morning, 10 days before its worldwide release on December 21, Shah Rukh finally revealed the emotional meaning behind the title.

The actor shared a teaser of Dunki Drop 5, the promotional video for the song O Maahi, on his social media accounts. “Because everybody asks, what does Dunki mean? Dunki means being apart from your loved ones. And when you are with them, one feels the moment should last till the end of time. O Maahi O Maahi…feel the love before the sun sets on the horizon today!”, he added as the caption.

The 13-second teaser shows SRK standing in the desert and doing his signature pose. He is dressed completely in black. The clip also reads, “Promo version. The film has a different version.” The song by Arijit Singh is yet to be officially released.
