Both Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal were box office successes. Recently, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga revealed that he considered including a cameo by Kabir Singh in Animal but finally decided against it. It wouldn’t have looked realistic, he said.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga was asked about the potential that Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh might serve as the doctor when Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Animal is brought to a hospital during a recent interview with Komal Nahta for Game Changers. The director responded by saying he had considered it. He remembered that when he presented the proposal to his group, they responded favourably.
According to Vanga, his team advised him to proceed because it was a smart idea and would result in larger collections. He claimed that while Animal was being filmed in Delhi, he had the idea to include Kabir Singh as one of the chief physicians.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga later dropped the idea. He said, “But mujhe laga kahin cameo ki desperacy me nahi jaana. Unke beech me agar Kabir aayega toh bahut light hoga (If Kabir comes there, then it will be very light.”
Then Vanga added that if a ‘filmy’ figure was introduced into the film, the suffering would not appear authentic. He went on to say that the intention was to make the audience feel as though the scenes were truly happening. Another question posed to Sandeep Reddy Vanga during the discussion was whether he had considered using Shahid Kapoor for the main part in Animal.
In response, he said he didn’t consider it. He revealed that the “emotional” story was the only thing that made him feel something. Vanga described it as “organic” and expressed confidence that he would be the best option.
