As the debate over nepotism in Bollywood continues, Kaveri Kapur, daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, has expressed her nervousness about her film debut. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Kaveri acknowledged the challenges star kids face due to frequent trolling and admitted feeling the pressure.
“I am nervous, and I want people to like me. I understand the nepotism debate and see both sides of the coin. Outsiders deserve opportunities, but nepotism exists in every field. Just like a doctor’s child becomes a doctor, or a lawyer’s child follows the same path, it is natural for someone passionate about films to pursue them,” she said.
Kaveri also addressed the criticism directed at star kids, urging people to put themselves in their position before sending hate. “If they were in the same place, wouldn’t they do the same?” she questioned.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli, who is directing her debut film Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story, defended Kaveri, clarifying that Shekhar Kapur had no role in her casting. “Shekhar never called me or Disney+ Hotstar about the film. I was the one who approached him,” Kohli stated.
The romantic drama, also starring Vardhan Puri, Nisha Aaliya, and Atul Sharma, follows the journey of Bobby and Rishi as they navigate love, conflicts, and unforeseen challenges. Directed by Kunal Kohli, known for Fanaa and Hum Tum, the film is set to release soon.
