During a physical conflict during the showing of Telugu star Allu Arjun’s popular film “Pushpa 2” in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a theatre canteen employee chewed off another man’s ear, according to the Free Press Journal.
The event happened Tuesday evening at Kajal Talkies in the Phalka Bazar neighbourhood of Gwalior. Guda Gudi Naka resident Shabbir Khan, the victim, and canteen employees Raju, Chandan, and MA Khan got into a fight during interval over who should pay for snacks and other refreshments.
As per the source, the dispute turned into a full-on brawl during which one of the canteen employees bit off Khan’s ear. After suffering severe bleeding, the sufferer was sent to a neighbouring hospital. Khan’s ear required eight stitches after a minor operation.
Khan thereafter complained to the Inderganj police station about the accused. The police took note of the medical report and recorded his statement. Sections 294 (obscene actions), 323 (voluntarily causing pain), and 34 (acts done by multiple persons in furtherance of a common goal) of the Indian Penal Code were used to register the complaint.
The crime was compared to the movie’s last stunt scene, in which Allu Arjun fights by biting his opponents while having his hands and legs bound. Later, the victim claimed that the media’s “negative influence” is encouraging regular people to behave like gangsters. Such films have a harmful effect on people.
He was quoted by the FPJ as saying, “They believe they can replicate these behaviours in real life.” To prevent such heinous acts in the future, police pledged to take strong measures. According to reports, the Telugu action movie has reportedly become the fastest Indian film to earn ₹1,000 crore globally.
