Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher have been married since 1985. Today, on Kirron Kher’s birthday, here’s a throwback memory of how the duo went from being friends to a romantic couple.
In an interview in 2013, Kirron said that they had been very close but never crossed the threshold of a platonic friendship. At that time, they were both married to other people.
We both were in theatre in Chandigarh, and we were the best of friends. There was nothing he did not know about me, and I knew everything about him, up to the extent of knowing which girl he was planning to ‘patao (woe)’. It was fun and we worked together well too. But there was no attraction of any kind beyond friendship,” she told Firstpost.
Later, Kiran got married to Gautam and Anupam too had got married. However, things were not working out for either of them. The duo were still friends and were doing several projects and plays together during which Anupam realized he had fallen in love with Kirron. Their friendly equation changed into a romantic one with an exploding chemistry.
They sought a divorce from their partners and married each other in 1985. At that time, Kirron said, “He (Anupam) had nothing”
The couple are parent’s to Kirron’s son from her first marriage, Sikandar Kher.
