The Indian hockey team registered a resounding victory in the match against Argentina in the Tokyo Olympics. Two brilliant goals in the final quarter helped the Indian men’s hockey team beat defending Olympic champions Argentina by 3-1 in their fourth group match on Thursday. This is India’s third win in four matches. Now Indian team has nine points in its account and is firmly placed second in his Group-A after Australia in the top with 12 points. After the victory, It is clear that the Indian team will move to the next round of the Tokyo Olympics.

Varun Kumar scored the first goal of the match in the 43rd minute, Vivek Sagar scored in the 58th minute and Harmanpreet Singh scored in the 59th minute for India. Maico Casella scored the only goal for Argentina in the 48th minute. After going goalless in the first two quarters, India took a 1-0 lead at the end of the third quarter. For India, this goal was scored by Varun Kumar on the penalty corner.

At this point, India had the challenge to save their first goal. But on the other hand, the defending champion intensified their attack. In the same sequence, Argentina got a penalty corner in the 47th minute, which was converted into a goal in 48 minutes by Maico Casella to make the score 1-1.

Now the matter was again the same as it was till the middle of the third quarter. And both the teams were competing to get ahead. India got success in this competition. Vivek Sagar scored a goal in the 58th minute to take a 2–1 lead. It was a field goal. Encouraged by this goal, India again attacked and secured a penalty corner in the 59th minute.

And Harmanpreet Singh made India’s memorable victory by scoring a goal on this penalty corner. And Indian men’s hockey team defeated champion Argentina by 3-1. Now India will face host Japan in their final group match.
