Tom Latham says, ‘Big challenge coming up’ in World Test Championship (WTC) final against India

The Blackcaps vice-captain Tom Latham spoke of their challenges for the World Test Championship (WTC) final by describing the Kohli led Indian team as a completely dangerous side after vanishing England. As New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is suffering from an elbow injury, Tom Latham had been given responsibility and he led the team to a memorable two match Test series victory against England. It was their first victory since 1999 in the UK.

Tom Latham was asked that where does he see the biggest danger from India coming to which he replied, “All around the board. They’ve got a fantastic set of bowlers, a lot of quality batsman that has scored runs in different conditions all around the world. They were over here a few years ago and played well, so we know we’ll have to play well to defeat them.” He also said that the focus will now shift to India in two days.

The vice-captain said in the post-match presentation, “The preparation has been great but it’s important that we do shift our focus and adapt to a completely different side.” New Zealand’s first Test series win in England after 22 years helped them to climb up to the top of the ICC rankings ahead of India. On the other hand, this was England’s first Test series loss after 2014.
