Tottenham right back Serge Aurier is set to join Paris Saint-Germain

The Ivorian international is reportedly off to Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent transfer.

Serge Aurier might reportedly be on his way back to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee in the region of £17 million. Tottenham Hotspur bought Aurier in 2017 for a reported £23 million.

Spurs don’t seem to mind making a loss of £6 million on Aurier if the reported figure holds up. The Ivorian has had very inconsistent performances for the north London club and the club are keen to move him on considering his erratic nature as a drawback too.

Aurier has expressed his intentions to leave Spurs a few weeks back. Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was instrumental in bringing the right back to Spurs four years back. The pair would be interested in linking up once again at Paris Saint-Germain where Pochettino was appointed manager on 2nd January 2021.

Aurier is keen to return to France and pushing for a move back to the Ligue 1 giants. Spurs are not interested in keeping Aurier in London and are also pushing for a move. This would likely mean that they would be in the market for a new right-back. The deal could be officially announced in a few weeks after negotiations between the two parties have been sorted out.

The onus to find a new replacement for Aurier at right-back would be placed on Fabio Paratici who was announced as Spurs’ Director of Football a few days back.
