Ed Kelce, father of NFL Travis Kelce, recently shared a candid detail about his first interaction with Travis’ girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
This meeting, which happened before a Chiefs match at Arrowhead Stadium, was out of the ordinary for Ed, who failed to recognize the globally famous singer.
During an interview on the Baskin & Phelps radio show on Audacy 92.3, Ed stated that when Travis’ pals visit town for a Kansas City Chiefs home match, the 34-year-old tight end has them all meet at his house and ride over together in a shuttle.
But when Taylor Swift strolled in one day with a security guard, Ed had trouble remembering where he had seen her face before. “I mention to [my girlfriend] Maureen, I says, ‘Oh, my God, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is,’” he recalled.
It was a funny moment, and his girlfriend swiftly fills him in. She said, “You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.”
Also, Ed Kelce recalled an incident where Swift was spotted picking up empty bottles and plates in a suite, a task normally not expected of someone of her celebrity status.
Ed said that Swift’s act was a pleasant surprise since it showed that she wasn’t acting like a diva and instead showed her real and kind personality.
