Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, stated on Friday that the rate of dearness relief and dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners/family pensioners would increase from 55% to 58%, a 3% increase. Adityanath stated on Friday that the additional sum will be given in cash beginning this month and that the new allowances will take effect on July 1.

On X, the Uttar Pradesh government wrote in Hindi, “This decision will serve as a catalyst for improving the standard of living while lighting the lamp of satisfaction, security, and prosperity in the lives of approximately 28 lakh dedicated workers and pensioners on the occasion of the great festival of Deepavali.”

Up until March 2026, the state government will have to pay an extra ₹1,960 crore. According to news agency PTI, ₹185 crore of this would be deposited to the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts of workers under the Old Pension Scheme, while ₹795 crore will be the additional cash outlay in November 2025. Furthermore, more than ₹550 crore will be required to be paid in arrears for the July–September 2025 period.

To maintain the higher limit, the government will need to spend an average of ₹245 crore every month starting in December 2025. According to officials, as part of the relief efforts for the holiday season, the chief minister has ordered that all qualified workers and retirees receive the increased DA and DR payments as soon as possible.

Odisha previously said that state government employees’ dearness allowance would increase by 3%, from 55% to 58%, with retroactive implementation beginning July 1, 2025. Additionally, there has been a 3% increase in pensioners’ dearness assistance (DR). According to the announcement, around 8.5 lakh Odisha government workers and pensioners will benefit from the decision.
