Vadodara Car Crash: Rakshit Chaurasia Denies Drunk Driving, Blames Potholes for Losing Control

The 23-year-old Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, who is accused of killing a woman and injuring four others after he smashed his automobile into several other vehicles in Vadodara, Gujarat, on Friday, stated that he was not intoxicated when the event occurred late Thursday night.

Rakshit Chaurasia, the driver, was taken into custody after the collision, which happened in the Karelibaug region near Muktanand Cross Roads at around 12.30 am, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya. Witnesses who saw Rakshit Chaurasia at the site told police that he seemed inebriated and was yelling “another round, another round” after exiting the vehicle, suggesting that it might be a case of drunk driving, the official said.

Rakshit Chaurasia then informed the media that he was travelling at 50 kmph when he lost control of the car because of potholes in the road. The road’s potholes caused the vehicle to lose control. The vehicle was travelling at about fifty kilometres per hour. A car and a scooter were present.

“I wasn’t intoxicated. Since I was at fault, I would like to meet the deceased’s family.” He told reporters, “Whatever they want should happen.”

Rakshit Chaurasia called the accident a “understatement” and apologised for it. The accused stated that he would like to meet with the deceased’s family and apologise, “which is a very small word.” “I went to Holika Dahan and wasn’t intoxicated; I didn’t do any parties,” he claimed.

“I panicked and pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes when the airbags opened,” he added, describing how he reportedly lost control while driving. He denied being intoxicated at the time of the occurrence and claimed to have yelled the girl’s name at random while “in a state of panic” when questioned about it after exiting the vehicle.

An eyewitness shows Chauhan exiting the vehicle with the front end of it completely smashed and accusing Chaurasiya of causing the collision. The media was able to view CCTV footage of the speeding car colliding with two scooters, knocking the riders down and dragging them along before stopping.
