Bollywood’s critically acclaimed film Gully Boy (2019), directed by Zoya Akhtar, might soon have a sequel. According to recent reports, Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday are in discussions to lead the much-anticipated second installment.
Gully Boy, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and starred Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Siddhant Chaturvedi, received widespread praise for its performances, music, and portrayal of street rap culture. However, reports suggest that the original cast is unlikely to return for the sequel.
Filmfare revealed that Arjun Varain Singh, known for his work in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, is set to direct the project under the banners of Tiger Baby Films and Excel Entertainment. Singh previously collaborated with Ananya Panday, who is reportedly seen as an ideal fit for the sequel by the director. Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal has been associated with the project for some time.
Sources speculate that if Gully Boy 2 performs well, a reunion with the original cast could be possible in a potential third installment. However, a source clarified, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. That’s a possibility that’s way too uncertain right now.” Fans of the musical drama are eager for an official announcement, with expectations running high for this potential continuation of a beloved Bollywood classic.
