Actor Vin Diesel, who is known for his iconic role as Dominic Toretto in the highly popular Fast and Furious franchise, has confirmed that the saga will be concluding after two more films following the upcoming ninth installment in the franchise, F9, which is scheduled to release in theaters on 25 June. The actor also stated that Universal Pictures, the production house behind the successful franchise, wants to draw a conclusion to the saga in two parts. Along with that, the actor also said the final two films in the franchise could potentially release in the years 2023, and then in 2024.

During a press meet for the upcoming movie in the franchise, when asked about the franchise’s future, Diesel said that every story deserves its own ending. The actor also stated that although the saga might be coming to an end, the Fast and Furious cinematic universe will continue to exist in the future. Saying how all good things have to end, Diesel said that there are reasons for a finale to the franchise, and he thinks that the franchise has deserved it. The actor also shared that when he broke the news about the franchise ending to his daughter, she began shedding tears.

Justin Lin, the director of the movie, said the idea to bring the saga to an end came during a conversation with actor Vin Diesel, who has been playing the leading role in eight Fast and Furious films. Lin stated that Vin had put across the idea when they two got together when the actor said that they had to think about closing up the saga now. Lin, who has already directed five of the franchise’s movies, will also be directing the final two installments of the saga.
