Wendell Pierce cast as Perry White in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’

The Wire star Wendell Pierce has been confirmed to feature in James Gunn’s film Superman. As reported by Variety, the actor is going to play Perry White, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet newspaper, which hires Clark Kent/Superman.

The most recent actor to portray Perry in Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice was Laurence Fishburne. David Corenswet will portray Clark, Rachel Brosnahan is set to portray Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo will portray Jimmy Olsen. In previous Superman movies, Jackie Cooper and Frank Langella also played other roles.

The cast of Superman also includes Nicholas Hoult as villain Lex Luthor, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

Superman Release Date

The new film marks the start of a rebooted Warner Bros/DC Universe, supervised by Gunn and his DC Studios co-boss, Peter Safran. As per reports, Superman is set to hit theatres on July 11, 2025.
