It’s a proud day for the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) as India will host the WBC India boxing championship for the very first time. The inaugural match is set between India’s finest lightweight boxing champions Chandni Mehra and Suman Kumari. Both the boxers will fight for the lightweight title on May 1, 2021, which is scheduled by two in the afternoon.
While Mehra has a professional record of seven fights and just two losses turning into pro ranks in 2018, whereas, Kumari’s boxing career is 4-3-1.
LZ founder Parm Goraya stated, “I’ve been a boyhood fan of the WBC, their Champions, and the beautiful green/gold belt growing up in England. On a professional level, I’m totally honored to be given the WBCs first-ever Indian Championship fight at my inaugural event on 1 May 2021. Chandni Mehra and Suman Kumari are two great female ambassadors for girls, women in life, and boxing.
Goraya also showcased how this event can motivate other females globally to join the sport in the future. She concluded by giving her best wishes to both the boxers on the behalf of World Boxing Council, its president Mauricio Sulaiman and the WBC Board of Governors.
A defining moment for boxing in India 🇮🇳https://t.co/9MiYYHgsDa
