Mumbai Indians Women have maintained a strong scoring rate in their innings against Delhi Capitals Women in the second match of the Women’s Premier League 2025. Opting to bat first after losing the toss, MIW lost both their openers early, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt took control of the innings with a record-breaking partnership.
After the early wickets of Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia, Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt rebuilt the innings brilliantly. The pair added 73 runs for the third wicket, which now stands as the highest partnership for any wicket by MI against DC in the WPL. Sciver-Brunt remained steady while Kaur played an aggressive knock, scoring 42 off just 22 balls, smashing four boundaries and three sixes.
Harmanpreet was in top form, punishing Annabel Sutherland with back-to-back boundaries and a huge six in the 10th over. However, after smashing 18 runs off just four balls, she perished while attempting another big shot. Sutherland bowled a full-length delivery outside off, which Kaur sliced towards deep point, where debutant Niki Prasad took a well-judged catch. This wicket brought relief to DC, who had struggled to break the partnership.
At the 12-over mark, MIW stood at 115/3, with Nat Sciver-Brunt leading the charge with 46 off 35 balls, striking at over 130. Amelia Kerr joined her at the crease, scoring 6 off her first six balls. Delhi’s bowlers, especially Radha Yadav and Annabel Sutherland, have struggled to control the run flow, with both conceding 26 runs in their two overs.
With eight overs left and wickets in hand, Mumbai Indians Women will be aiming for a strong finish to set a challenging target for Delhi Capitals Women. Stay tuned for more updates from this exciting WPL 2025 clash.
