WTC final: Harbhajan picks Siraj over this senior-most bowler from India’s playing XI

Harbhajan Singh thinks Mohammed Siraj should be picked for the seamer’s slot ahead of Ishant Sharma for the WTC Final.

With the few days left to the World Test Championships final, many experts are commenting their views over India’s playing XI for the match against New Zealand.

Indian former spinner Harbhajan Singh thinks Mohammed Siraj should be picked for the seamer’s slot ahead of Ishant Sharma for the WTC Final. The experienced spinner said that Mohammed Siraj’s last 2 years’ performance, along with his pace and ability, make him the ideal pick for the most awaited event.

From the last 2 days, many have participated in Mohammed Siraj vs Ishant Sharma debate, Harbhajan Singh backed to a young pacer while speaking to PTI. Harbhajan quoted: “Ishant is a brilliant bowler, but for this game, my choice is Siraj, who has shown remarkable improvement in the last two years. You have to look at the present scenario.”

The Indian spinner said, “Siraj is a better choice for WTC Final, as the young pacer is hungry for his chances.” He added, “Siraj’s form, pace, and confidence make him a better choice for this final match. The kind of form he is in the last six months, he looks like a bowler who is hungry for his chances. Ishant has gone through some injuries of late but has been a great servant of Indian cricket no doubt.”

Also, some media reports suggest the team management is looking to pick Mohammed Siraj into the playing eleven, in place of veteran Ishant Sharma because of his ability to bowl long spells.

“If you leave some grass on the surface, Siraj with his pace will be lethal. Trust me, New Zealand batters won’t find him easy as he not only hits the deck but also gets to move the ball off the pitch at a brisk pace. He can create awkward angles for batsmen,” said Bhajji.
