Yemen national football team coach Sami Hasan Al-Nash Succumbs due to COVID-19

Yemen football association announced on Sunday that the national team coach Sami Hasan Al-Nash succumbed to COVID-19. The Yemen football association said that Al-Naash died on Monday in a hospital in the port city of Aden.

Yemen was set to play their qualifying matches for Asian Cup and the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will take place in Qatar. Yemen are in the group with Saudi Arabia, the Palestinian region, Singapore and Uzbekistan.

It is said that Al-Nash got infected with this virus in a camp that was set for the national team in Shabwa last month. The country has been in a civil war since 2014, they have seen a sudden surge in cases and their medical facilities are not able to manage that. Around 1200+ people have died in the country due to depleting resources.

They have played in the Asian Games and AFC Asian Cup earlier. They have not performed well in those and the recent demise of their coach will hurt their preparations for the upcoming matches. If they can win some games, it will provide the fans with some joy in these hard times.
