Yogi Adityanath Makes ‘The Sabarmati Report’ Tax-Free in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that the film The Sabarmati Report , based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, will be tax-free in the state. The announcement came after the CM attended a special screening of the Vikrant Massey-starrer in Lucknow, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and the film’s cast.

“The Uttar Pradesh government has made this film tax-free,” said Vikrant Massey, who plays the lead role, expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister. “I want to thank Yogi Adityanath ji… This is an important film, and I appeal to everyone to go and watch it.”

The Sabarmati Report, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, recounts the tragic burning of the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express near Godhra station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. The incident, which claimed the lives of 59 Hindu devotees returning from Ayodhya, led to widespread riots in Gujarat that year.

The film, produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan, features Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have also declared the film tax-free, recognizing its historical significance. The makers hope the tax-free status will encourage more people to watch the film and reflect on its message.
