The figures in Downdetector are derived from reports that users have submitted. The precise number of impacted users may differ. More than 2,000 reports have been made so far, suggesting that the Meta-owned photo-sharing website has experienced significant interruption. Users have turned to competing social networking sites, such as X (previously Twitter), to vent their annoyance and see if anyone else is having the same problems.
Instagram and its parent company, Meta, have not yet released an official statement regarding the outage, which seems to be ongoing. The reason for the technological issues is still unknown.
