Agneyastra Energetics Launches Major Defence Manufacturing Expansion Near Madakasira

Agneyastra Energetics Limited has broken ground on a new strategic defence manufacturing facility near Madakasira in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai District.

The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), plans to develop the integrated campus across more than 1,000 acres with a proposed investment of ₹1,500 crore over the next 2–4 years.

The facility is aimed at boosting India’s indigenous manufacturing capabilities in advanced energetics and ammunition systems critical to defence and aerospace applications.

According to the company, the project will include advanced manufacturing infrastructure, specialised logistics capabilities, and testing facilities built with high safety standards.

The development is expected to create around 800 direct jobs and nearly 2,500 indirect employment opportunities, while supporting Andhra Pradesh’s growing position in India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing landscape.

Agneyastra Energetics said it has been established to reduce India’s dependence on imported energetics materials by developing indigenous and globally compliant solutions in strategically critical sectors.

Mr. Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited, said: “India has a significant opportunity to emerge as a globally trusted source for advanced defence systems and critical materials. Agneyastra Energetics is a strategic step towards building a strong indigenous energetics ecosystem and globally competitive capabilities from India for both domestic and international markets.”

The company said it will leverage the Kalyani Group’s experience in defence manufacturing, engineering, and metallurgy to establish globally competitive capabilities from India.
