The largest Malaysian airline Air Asia Group Bhd. is planning to launch a flying taxi business in 2022. The flying taxis will have 4 seats and will be powered by a quadcopter.
The company CEO Tony Fernandes announced in an online discussion as part of the Youth Economic Forum. “We are working on that right now. I think we are about a year and a half away from launching,” he said
“We took it as an opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to recast your business, re-look at things,” Fernandes said.
The airline has been expanding in the digital world as air travel was hit hard by the pandemic. Last Year, the company launched the “super app” that offers travel, shopping, logistics, and financial services.
