The Air India employee consortium was not chosen for the next round of disinvestment of the airline, according to a report by MoneyControl.
In a letter addressed to the Air India employees, airline’s Commercial Director Meenakshi Malik said, “While I write to you with a heavy heart on the outcome of our bid to acquire Air India, I cannot help but be filled with a great sense of pride and admiration for the sincerest efforts we have made over the last few months, together,” Malik said in the letter.
She was informed of the same in a mail sent by Ernst & Young LLP, Transaction Advisor to the Government of India.
Tata Sons are the preferred choice for the privatization of the airline, SpiceJet may also be considered.
