Ariana Grande’s journey through awards season has kicked off with great excitement, as she recently received her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Wicked. This marks a major milestone in her acting career and has sparked discussions about her potential at the Academy Awards. With the Oscars just a few months away, Grande is already seen as a frontrunner in the Best Supporting Actress category, alongside her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo.
Though the iconic songs from Wicked are not eligible for the Oscars’ Best Original Song category, fans are still hopeful that Grande and Erivo might get the chance to perform at the ceremony. Both actresses have delivered powerful performances in one of the year’s most highly anticipated films, earning them significant attention.
When asked about the possibility of singing at the Oscars, Grande was enthusiastic. She said, “Of course, we love singing with each other… I’ll sing together absolutely anywhere, anytime, especially in celebration of Wicked, and I love her; that’s my sister. Say the word and we’ll be there.”
Grande’s Golden Globe experience continued to be special as she attended the First-Time Nominee Celebration, held ahead of the January 5 awards show. The Beverly Hills luncheon was a star-studded affair, with Grande attending alongside her mother, Joan Grande, and sharing a memorable moment with fellow nominee Zoe Saldaña. Other Hollywood A-listers like Adam Brody, Pamela Anderson, and Kathryn Hahn were also in attendance.
For Grande, the event was a surreal moment. “It’s just really exciting,” she shared. “To be here with so many amazing people and to be recognized for something so special is incredible.”
One of the most heartwarming moments for Grande came when she learned that Imogen Heap, a musician she has idolized since childhood, had seen Wicked and loved it. “It was very exciting to hear that she saw it with her daughter and loved it,” Grande said.
Additionally, Grande had the opportunity to meet legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, which left her in awe. She described the encounter as both overwhelming and an honor, noting that Spielberg was very kind, making the moment all the more special.
