Around 1 lakh IT returns filed on e-filling portal: Infosys COO Pravin Rao

While responding to the queries from close to half a dozen shareholders in the company’s 40th annual general meeting on Saturday, regarding the technical glitches, Infosys COO UB Pravin Rao said that with close to one lakh returns being filed, Infosys has resolved several technical glitches which were initially raised in the company’s new Income Tax e-filing portal over last week.

Concerns have been caused in certain areas like E-procurement which will be addressed in the next few days, as the new features are being introduced in the portal, Rao further said.

With many users posting tweets tagging the Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, the new income tax e-filing portal went live on 7th June in the night and ran into glitches since then. According to the taxpayers and tax professionals, Since the launch, they faced challenges to logging in or in cases where they were able to log in, they were unable to carry out transactions.

One of the most common and immediate complaints is that because Forms 15CA and 15CB cannot be uploaded, the overseas remittances are held up. Due to the above mentioned, the overseas party is treating corporates as defaulters while they are being subject to penalties for late payment along with the reputation being at stake.

Relaxation in the electronic filing of forms 15CA and 15CB is been given by the income tax department given these glitches plaguing the portal. As said by the ministry of finance, taxpayers can now file Form 15CA and Form 15CB manually tell 30th June.
