Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority(CASA) will lift the ban on flights using the Boeing Co 737 MAX aircraft to and from the country. This would make it the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to do so.
Graeme Crawford, the chief of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, said in a statement that, “We…are confident that the aircraft are safe.”
He further added that CASA has accepted the comprehensive pre-requisites set by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to return to service as a state of design for the 737 MAX.
Fiji Airways and Singapore Airlines Ltd operated the 737 Max on flights with Australia, but the regulator is not sure when those airlines will resume flights as they will have to receive approvals to fly from their national aviation regulators.
The Boeing 737 Max was grounded in 2019 after two deadly crashes due to a faulty flight system.
