Australia tour of Bangladesh: Liton Das to miss T20I series due to personal reasons

Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das will miss the upcoming five-match T20 series against Australia due to some personal reasons.

Bangladesh opening batsman Liton Das will miss the upcoming five-match T20 series against Australia due to some personal reasons. The Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman confirmed that the cricketer is set to fly home to be with an ill family member. Das has also missed the last two games of the T20I series against Zimbabwe due to a thigh injury.

“Liton is expected to return home soon as he wants to be there for the family member who is sick. He was not available for the opening two T20s and we cannot say anything if someone says that he wants to be with his ailing family members,” The board chairman Akram told Cricbuzz.

Das is the second player to opt-out, as Mushfiqur will also miss the five-match T20I series against Australia at home. According to a report, Rahim was unable to initiate a mandatory 10-day quarantine before joining the bio-secure bubble. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this development. Bangladesh veteran Tamim Iqbal will also miss the series due to a knee injury. He will not be playing for the team for at least two months.

The five-match T20I series will begin on August 3 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Both the teams are expected to arrive in Dhaka on July 29. Both teams will have to go through a three-day room quarantine period at the hotel.
