Tickets for comedian Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat are no longer available for sale following a major controversy over his show, India’s Got Latent. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) claimed on Wednesday that Raina’s comedy gigs scheduled for April have been cancelled due to public outrage over controversial remarks made on the show.
Social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, sparked widespread criticism with comments on parents and sex during a recent episode. The video went viral on Monday, leading to multiple police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati.
According to Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput, Raina had planned four stand-up shows in the state one in Surat (April 17), one in Vadodara (April 18), and two in Ahmedabad (April 19 and 20). However, tickets that were available on BookMyShow until Wednesday morning were later taken down.
VHP regional secretary Ashvin Patel stated that the organisers had likely cancelled the shows due to public anger. “We thank the people of Gujarat for their alertness and urge organisers to avoid such events in the future,” Patel said.
Meanwhile, Allahbadia apologised for his remarks, calling them a “lapse in judgment.” On Wednesday, Raina also addressed the controversy on Twitter (now X), announcing that he had deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent and would cooperate with authorities. An FIR has been filed against Raina, Allahbadia, and the show’s team for allegedly objectionable content.
