English wicketkeeper Ben Foakes met with an injury as he tore his left hamstring in a dressing room accident. Foakes will now be missing two-match test series against New Zealand which is set to begin from June 2 at England’s premier cricketing venue ‘Lords’.
Foakes, who had toured India as an incumbent wicket-keeper recently was in the line to play his first home series. Unfortunately, this tragedy happened. He met with this injury as he slipped in his socks while walking through the Surrey dressing-room following their drawn LV= County Championship game against Middlesex on Sunday.
Foakes will now be assessed and rehabilitated under Surrey medical team. However, the England cricket board has stated that he was expected to be out of action for at least three months, meaning he is unlikely to play any part in the five-Test series against India that starts at Trent Bridge on August 4.
Now with Foake’s absence, James Bracey is expected to glove behind the stumps for the English side. Bracey who was there with the English side in bio – bubble environment from past July couldn’t make his debut for the national side as the English side was packed from all the gates. Now, with this tragic incident of Foakes, Bracey is set to make his test debut against the Black caps next month.
Bracey plays for Gloucestershire cricket club in English county. He has scored 2575 runs at an average of 36.78 having 6 centuries in his bucket playing 44 games.
