Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has talked about the need for reinvention in the industry, stating that its survival depends on evolving with the times. In a recent podcast interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Varun raised concerns about whether those in power fully understand the urgency for change. “People in powerful positions, who have been doing the same thing for years, must recognize the need to adapt or risk losing relevance,” he said, acknowledging that change can be challenging but inevitable.
The actor praised superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan for staying attuned to shifting trends, stating, “They are not delusional. They understand what’s happening around them.” However, Varun lamented the lack of diverse voices in Bollywood and questioned why it has become increasingly difficult for newcomers to enter the industry.
Varun attributed this to the expanding range of career options, such as acting, influencing, or working in the OTT space.
He also expressed his desire for fresh talent to enrich Bollywood, emphasizing that reinvention is vital for everyone, including himself.
On the work front, Varun is gearing up for his next release, Baby John, an action drama directed by Kalees. He plays a police officer and single father, with Salman Khan making a cameo appearance. The film, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, and Jackie Shroff, is set to hit theaters this Christmas, marking the Hindi debut of Jawan director Atlee as a producer.
