British Petroleum to shut down its Australia’s refinery

British Petroleum Company’s Australian oil refinery is scheduled to shut down by the end of March. BP has stopped importing oil to the refinery.

“Crude imports have stopped, and all processing at the plant is in the shutdown phase which will be completed by the end of March 2021,” a BP spokesman said.

The Kwinana refinery was announced to be shut down in October to turn it into a fuel import terminal. It is the first refinery in Australia to shut, with four more refineries on the same track. Despite incentives offered by the government BP has decided to shut these refineries.

Exxon Mobil Corp is also planning to shut its smallest plant- 90,000 BPD Altona refinery.
