It seems that Captain America: Brave New World may not have been all smooth sailing behind the scenes. According to a report from Vulture, an anonymous insider shared some of the alleged struggles and frustrations that took place during the movie’s production.
The source revealed that the crew had a sense early on that the film might not turn out well, noting there were a lot of “frustrations on the set.” They further explained that after the main filming wrapped, there was back-and-forth confusion about introducing the leader of the Serpent Society. “It was on, then it was off, then it was on again,” the insider said, adding that this kind of on-and-off planning can be “very expensive.”
The source also described the production as being “rough” for those who spent a lot of time on set. But it didn’t stop there—according to the insider, Harrison Ford’s behavior on set was also a point of tension. They called him “one of the crankiest performers” they’d ever worked with, which was disappointing since they were a fan of the actor. Ford was apparently very difficult to work with, and the source hinted that his recovery from a plane crash may have affected his mood and physical abilities on set. The insider mentioned that Ford was unable to raise his left arm above his chest and had to be suited up in motion-capture dots, which they felt he “hated.”
This tension reportedly created an “awkward work environment,” with everyone trying to please the actor, but it didn’t seem to make things any easier. The insider also revealed that the extensive reshoots, which are common in big-budget films, led to scenes that were filmed but didn’t make it into the final cut—resulting in significant costs. They emphasized that dealing with “A-list egos” was the main challenge, and that it was primarily “just Harrison Ford” causing the issues. Overall, the source described the production as the most intense Marvel shoot they had ever been a part of.
