Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took part in the Instagram competition “Fashion Icon in Youth” on Monday by posting a flashback photo of MS Dhoni wearing a black and white t-shirt.

As part of the practice, the three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners also uploaded images of England all-rounder Sam Curran, as well as Narayan Jagadeesan and Harishankar Reddy. CSK captioned the Instagram photo, “Did we hear fashion icon in youth?”

A slew of celebrities and social media influencers have taken part in the challenge by posting photos of themselves when they were younger. CSK’s post went viral on social media, garnering over 3.9 lakh likes on Instagram in only three hours after it was uploaded. The supporters also praised CSK’s Instagram administrator for reposting an old photo of Dhoni.

Some people simply typed MSD with heart emojis to express their gratitude, while others added fire and heart-eye to the comment section. Meanwhile, when the 14th season of the IPL returns in the United Arab Emirates in September, Dhoni will return to the field.

The Chennai-based team was enjoying an excellent run in the tournament when the league was suspended on May 4 owing to an increase of COVID-19 cases. CSK finished second in the IPL points table with 10 points from seven games.

Chennai had won five of their seven games and only lost two – the first against league leaders Delhi Capitals (DC) and the second to reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI). Faf du Plessis, the former South African captain, excelled with the bat for Chennai in the opening phase of the tournament. In seven games, he scored 320 runs and had four fifties. He was also ranked third in the IPL batting order for 2021, behind Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. Curran was outstanding with the bat, taking nine wickets in seven games.
