Chinese government backs India hosting BRICS Summit 2021

On Monday, China said that it will cooperate with New Delhi and with other members of the committee to strengthen the 5 member group committee and has also extended his support for India hosting this year’s BRICS Summit. Chinese spokesperson Wang Wenbin told in a media briefing that Chinese government is backing New Delhi (India) for hosting the summit.

The spokesperson however didn’t announced if Chinese President Xi Jinping would attend the summit but the President has previously attended all summits including last year summit which was held in Russia. The support comes after both teh countries have began the work of disengagement of troops from 8 months long battle field in Ladakh.

BRIC is an adjoining acronym for the developing nations and 5 member committee which are believed to be the future dominant suppliers of manufactured goods, services and raw materials by 2050 to world. This year India holds the Chairmanship for the summit which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

On Feb 19, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar launched the official website of India’s BRICS 2021 at BRICS Secretariat Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
