A recent statement by Amaal Mallik about his father’s early career has stirred conversation, prompting Daboo Malik to step in and clarify the details. The younger composer had suggested in an interview that his father had originally shot for Maine Pyaar Kiya but was later replaced by Salman Khan without being informed.
Responding to the claim, Daboo explained in an interview with Buzzzoka Prime that the project he was actually working on was a different film titled Sawan Jhoom Utha, which never saw the light of day. He recalled investing nearly a year into the film before learning that it had been shelved. It was only later, during a visit to the Rajshri office, that he first came across the poster of Maine Pyaar Kiya featuring a new lead pair.
Both films were backed by Rajshri Productions, which, according to Daboo, may have led to the confusion over the years. He noted that while the two projects were separate, they shared certain thematic similarities, particularly in their romantic storyline, which could have contributed to the misunderstanding within the family.
Amaal, in an earlier interaction with Filmfare, had recounted a different version of events, suggesting his father had already filmed portions before discovering the change in casting. Daboo, however, clarified that the narrative likely evolved through recollections and discussions over time, and expressed hope that his explanation would put an end to the speculation.
