T Dilip and Paras Mhambrey will join as the fielding and bowling coaches for the Indian Cricket Team which will be travelling to Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three T20I games against the islanders from July 13th to 25th. Earlier, former Indian captain, Rahul Dravid was named as the head coach and Indian left-hand batsman Shikar Dhawan as the leader of the side.
Dravid and Mhambrey have largely been expected to be appointed to the support staff but Dilip is a surprise inclusion. T Dilip is a fielding coach of the Hyderabad team in the Indian domestic circuit and he was also previously part of the India A side too. The selection committee led by MSK Prasad had interviewed the members of the support staff for the Indian team in 2019, had rated him highly for his coaching skills. The 39-year old has completed a Level III coaching course too.
The 20-member squad, along with five net bowlers, will start its quarantine in Mumbai from tomorrow (June 14) and is expected to fly to the island nation on June 27 after completing 14-days of isolation. On arrival in Sri Lanka, the team has been advised three-day hard quarantine, having to confine to the rooms only, and three days of soft quarantine after which the team will be allowed to practice, a source from SLC said.
