Chandramouli Biswas, a well-known bassist, was discovered dead on Sunday night at his rented house in Kolkata, close to Wellington. Chandramouli committed suicide when he was 48 years old, according to the Times of India.
He was a member of bands like Zombie Cage Control, Golok, and Fossils. Mohul Chakraborty, the lead singer of Golok, discovered his body. He then informed the police and the community. Mohul stated, “I started to worry about Biswas because he had not been returning my calls since the morning. I contacted one of his close friends, and when we got to his house to see how he was doing, we discovered him dead.”
The Bengali music industry as a whole has suffered a significant loss. Chandramouli gave up engineering to become a musician. According to the police, the preliminary inquiry showed that Chandramouli had been depressed for a few years since he was not making a lot of money.
According to a police officer, they talked to his friends and family, who stated that he had been “depressed for some years and was also undergoing treatment.” The police claim to have discovered a suicide note in which he claimed no one was to blame for his passing.
A post-mortem has been ordered for the body. Additionally, the note’s handwriting is being examined. According to Rupsha Dasgupta, manager of Fossils, Chandramouli was a member of the team from 2000 until 2018. He first played guitar in the band before switching to bass.
She further mentioned that Chandramouli’s health problems caused him to leave the band in 2018. “It is shocking that Chandra died so early, and he has a huge fan following among the young crowd,” Rupsha continued.
In addition to being an amazing musician, he was incredibly happy and sociable with people from all backgrounds. “A talented engineer and student at JU, he gave up everything to pursue his passion for music. For more than 15 years, Chandra performed there with us. He had an important role in the band. Allen and I had a conversation. Rupam is devastated, as are the other band members. After learning about this, we’re not sure how the band will play,” Rupsgha added.
While travelling to Kalyani for a performance, fossils were informed of the news. Chandramouli had changed his Facebook profile picture on Sunday afternoon.
