Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares Postpartum Update After Welcoming Her First Baby

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, 33, is sharing her postpartum journey on Instagram after welcoming her daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, with boyfriend Ken Urker on December 28. The new mom posted a selfie on January 3, marking nearly a week since her delivery, expressing that she’s feeling more energized as she navigates this new chapter of motherhood.

This moment comes one year after Gypsy-Rose was released from prison for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine Dee Dee Blanchard, who had subjected her to years of abuse due to Munchausen by proxy syndrome. Gypsy-Rose had been a victim of her mother’s manipulative behaviors, which included unnecessary medical procedures, and the tragic events that followed ultimately led to her involvement in Dee Dee’s death.

Gypsy-Rose also shared the story behind her daughter’s name, Aurora, in an interview with People in December. She and Urker both had a deep fascination with the Northern Lights, leading them to choose the name independently. “I think it was maybe in 2018; we wrote each other’s future kid’s name on pieces of paper, and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing the other was picking it,” she said.

Prior to the birth of their daughter, Blanchard reflected on her hopes for her relationship with her child, hoping to give her the loving, nurturing experience she never had with her own mother. She explained that raising a family was something her mother had told her would never happen, and she feels incredibly grateful for this second chance at life.

Blanchard and Urker had previously been engaged in 2018 but had split. Gypsy-Rose later married and divorced Ryan Anderson before reuniting with Urker. The couple now shares their joy with their little one, and Urker posted a heartfelt message on Instagram welcoming the new year with their daughter, calling her “the greatest gift of all.”
