Gypsy Rose Blanchard Welcomes Daughter With Ken Urker One Year After Release From Prison

On December 28, 2024, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s life took a poignant turn as she gave birth to her daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, just one year after being released from prison. Blanchard, who was imprisoned for her role in the 2015 murder of her abusive mother Dee Dee, welcomed Aurora with her boyfriend, Ken Urker. The baby, born at 9:48 a.m. on the day of her birth, weighed 6 lbs and 5 oz, and was in perfect health.

The couple shared the joyous news on January 1, 2025, with Urker posting a heartwarming Instagram photo of Blanchard holding their newborn daughter, with a caption that read, “Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all.”

In a recent interview, Blanchard explained the significance of her daughter’s name, Aurora, noting that both she and Urker were fascinated by the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. The name was chosen after both wrote it down as the name for their future children back in 2018, even though they hadn’t yet known each other’s choice.

Blanchard, who had previously been engaged to Urker in 2018 before their breakup, revealed that she and Urker are planning a trip to Sweden to see the Northern Lights once she is off parole. She also shared that she was excited to give her daughter a life filled with love and happiness, something she felt was missing from her own childhood.

In July, Blanchard and Urker announced their pregnancy, following Blanchard’s separation from her ex-husband, Ryan Anderson. The relationship with Urker was rekindled shortly thereafter, and Blanchard took a prenatal paternity test to confirm Urker as the father of her child.

Blanchard, who also recently released her memoir My Time to Stand, expressed her excitement about the future and her plans with Urker, noting that although they had discussed marriage, their primary focus right now was on being good parents. Blanchard’s divorce from Anderson was finalized in December 2024.
