ICC World Test Championship: New Zealand Test squad granted Covid-19 vaccine ahead of the tour of England

New Zealand test squad received their first dose of covid19 vaccine before the tour of England. Although all the players are still being home quarantined and will be given the second and the final dose as per the schedule. However, four players in the test squad left for the IPL before the vaccination process started namely Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson. Will Young was also unable to take the vaccination because of his absence.

However, the New Zealand side is delighted to welcome back all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme to the team after recovering from a serious ankle injury. He will be seen in action playing two tests against the host before the ICC World Test Championship final against India in late June.

“Since I’ve had the surgery the ankle has felt really good and it seems to keep getting better and it feels normal again for a change,” he said. “Looks like I’m tracking well at the moment and should be ready to go for ball one if I’m needed,” said de Grandhomme.

Kane Williamson will be seen leading the team, while Rachin Ravindra, Jacob Duffy and Devon Conway could make their Test debuts during the tour.
