IIFA Awards Day 2: Rakul Preet Singh walks out mid-interview; the actress ignores question on father-in-law Vashu Bhagnani’s non-payment controversy

Rakul Preet Singh strolled the green carpet during the IIFA Awards on Day 2. She avoided answering a query about the unpaid debt claims made against her father-in-law and producer Vashu Bhagnani at a media appearance. Saying “Sorry,” the actress turned aside when asked about the ongoing media reports.

ICYDK, Vashu Bhagnani owes crew members from three of his films—Mission Raniganj, Ganapath, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan—more than Rs 65 lakh, according to BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), who made this revelation to PTI in June.

Vashu Bhagnani, however, has refuted these claims time and time again. According to recent reports, Vashu Bhagnani was the target of a lawsuit filed by Bade Miyan Chote Miyan director Ali Abbas Zafar for allegedly failing to pay Rs 7 crore. In response, Ali Abbas Zafar was accused of exploiting subsidy monies supplied by Abu Dhabi authorities for the same film by Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani, who reportedly filed a police complaint.

After that, a number of people posing as crew members openly supported the director on social media. Furthermore, Vashu Bhagnani recently filed a police case against Netflix India, claiming that the OTT behemoth had defrauded him of Rs 47.37 crore in film rights.

Netflix has refuted this allegation. From then on, Bhagnani’s accusation has been the subject of an inquiry by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Regarding work, Rakul Preet Singh has begun shooting De De Pyaar De 2.
