Shubman Gill continued his fine run in the ODI series against England by becoming only the seventh Indian cricketer to score 50+ runs in each match of a three-match bilateral ODI series. The stylish opener reached the milestone during the third ODI in Ahmedabad, reinforcing his consistency ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Facing Adil Rashid in the 14th over, Gill dispatched a short ball through cover to bring up his 16th ODI fifty. With this, he joined an exclusive club of Indian batters who have scored half-centuries in all matches of a three-match series.

Earlier in the game, Shubman Gill entered his name in the history books on Wednesday, February 12, by becoming the fastest batter in the world to score 2500 runs in ODIs. Gill, who made his ODI debut for India on January 31, 2019, against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton, achieved the milestone during his 50th ODI match against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He broke former South African legend Hashim Amla’s record, who reached the 2500-run mark in his 53rd ODI innings for the Proteas.
