Sri Lanka defeated India by seven wickets in the final and deciding match of the T20 series played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With this, Sri Lanka also won this three-match series by 2-1. Sri Lanka has won a bilateral T20 series after two years. Earlier, the Lankan team won the T20 series against Pakistan in 2019. Also, the Sri Lankan team has managed to win the T20 series against India for the first time.
Birthday boy Wanindu Hasaranga was the hero of this match for Sri Lanka. In this match, Hasaranga took four important wickets for just 9 runs in his four overs. And then played an unbeaten inning of 14 runs in 9 balls with his bat.
India had earlier defeated the host by 2-1 in the three-match ODI series. Now the host has leveled the account by defeating the Indian team in the T20 series. India won the first T20 match by 38 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series, but the Sri Lankan team won the second match by four wickets to level the series. And now won the third T20I to win the series by 2-1
After restricting India to 81 runs, the hosts achieved the target in 14.3 overs for the loss of three wickets. Avishka Fernando for Sri Lanka scored 12, Minod Bhanuka scored 18, Dhananjay de Silva scored 23 not out and Wanindu Hasaranga scored 14 not out. And, Rahul Chahar took three wickets for India.
