India warns of suitable response to Chinese’s ‘staples visas’ to sportspersons from Arunachal

China issued ‘stapled visas’ to three sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh of India for visiting the country in order to participate in the World University Games. In response to this, New Delhi, on Thursday, lodged a strong protest and asserted that it has the right to “suitably respond” to the “unacceptable” move by the communist nation.

India has put on hold the departure of its wushu team that was to depart for Chengdu in China early on Thursday to take part in World University Games. The team consisted of four officials and eights wushu players including, Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega, and Mepung Lamgu from Arunachal Pradesh, who were issued a stapled visa by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in New Delhi.

Beijing issued staple visa to the residents of Arunachal Pradesh in order to avoid acknowledging them as citizens of India and recognising the state they belonged to as a part of India.
