India’s Got Latent Controversy: Here’s what Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani said to Mumbai Police

On Wednesday, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and social media personality Apoorva Mukhija recorded their statements with the Mumbai police in the issue of filthy remarks related to Samay Raina’s “India’s Got Latent” episode.

The show isn’t scripted, according to the two well-known influencers’ statement to the police. They stated that the judges and contestants are instructed to communicate freely during the show. They claimed that the judges on India’s Got Latent are not compensated. Nonetheless, they are free to share the show’s content on their social media accounts. Tickets must be purchased in order to attend this performance as a spectator.

According to ANI, the show’s winner receives the proceeds from ticket sales. According to a Khar police station official, the statements of four people—including Mukhija and Ranveer Allahbadia’s manager—were recorded, but Allahbadia himself was not. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Cyber Department filed a FIR against the show.

Following the issue, Nilotpal Mrinal Pandey, a member of the Uttar Bhartiya Morcha of the Maharashtra BJP, filed a complaint against Allahbadia and others on Monday. A significant uproar resulted from some allegedly offensive comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia, who also appeared on the show. In a subsequent video apology, he attempted to diffuse the situation by referring to his remark as a “lapse in judgement,” but the problem has persisted.

Naresh Mhaske, a Shiv Sena MP, brought up the matter in Parliament and demanded legislation to control social media. Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ashish Chanchlani, along with the producers of the show, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra, were invited by the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday to appear before the commission on February 17 in New Delhi.

In the meantime, an Assam Police team travelled to Mumbai on Wednesday to look into the matter. For allegedly encouraging obscenity and participating in sexually explicit and obscene conversations on the show, Ashish Chanchalani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others were the targets of a formal complaint filed by the Guwahati Crime Branch team.

According to senior Assam Police officers, a team has departed for Mumbai in connection with the probe into the judges of “India’s Got Latent.”
