India’s Got Latent Controversy: Samay Raina gets time to record his statement till March 10

According to a PTI report on Saturday, the Mumbai Police have given comedian Samay Raina till March 10 to appear before them as part of an investigation into the contentious comments made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia on the YouTube program “India’s Got Latent.”

Ranveer Allahbadia became embroiled in a significant controversy when he made comments about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s now-deleted “India’s Got Latent” YouTube program. In Assam and Mumbai, respectively, at least two formal complaints have been filed against Allahbadia and Raina.

According to an unnamed police official who was cited by PTI, Allahbadia’s phone has been turned off, making it impossible for Khar police to get in touch with him. When police teams from Mumbai and Assam had previously visited his home, they discovered it locked.

As per the official, Raina’s attorney spoke with high-ranking police officers to request further time, stating that his client was in the US. The police have given the lawyer until March 10 to come in and provide a statement at his request. Additionally, Allahbadia asked the Khar police to record his statement at his home, but they denied his request.

In response to a complaint made by a BJP official, the Mumbai police have recorded the statements of eight people, including Ashish Chanchalani, Apoorva Mukhija, and the manager of Allahbadia. The city police haven’t filed a formal complaint in this regard, though.
