Some can argue that Rayudu’s international career was unfortunate. Statistically, he had decent numbers in ODIs, but his strike rate wasn’t particularly high – a stark contrast to the unflappable stroke maker he was when he first arrived on the scene. He smashes fifty for just 20 deliveries and continued to maintain an extravagant strike rate of 266.67 with a total of eleven boundaries; four fours and seven sixes.
Rayudu’s speedy train had to be stopped at 72 runs for a total of 27 balls, being sent back at a Not-out Inning.
Irrespective of Rayudu’s teeter-totter past, he manages to make a bang in the latest edition of the VIVO IPL. Rayudu’s magnificent 50 in the 27th match of this year’s IPL has left everyone in awe.
Rayudu announced his retirement from international cricket after a roller-coaster 2018-19 season in which he went from being India’s named no.4 in ODIs to being left out of the squad itself. He has had a terrible 2019 IPL season, but the management’s policy of supporting players ensured that he was retained for the 2020 season.
It will be a treat watching the dark horseplay at this rate for the rest of the season.
