IPL 2021: As of now, no other matches must be rescheduled, BCCI officials issued a statement ahead of the COVID pandemic

The 14th season of the Indian Premier League has plunged into crisis after two Kolkata Knight Riders players- Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier- tested positive for COVID-19

The 14th season of the Indian Premier League [IPL] has been thrown into disarray after two Kolkata Knight Riders clubs, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, were found to be positive for COVID-19.

Varun Chakravarthy was taken to the hospital for an abdominal problem, which prompted the COVID-19 trial to begin. With Sandeep Warrier testing positive on Sunday, the touch tracing led to Chakravarthy, effectively isolating the entire Kolkata Knight Riders squad.

Despite testing negative, the entire KKR squad has been put into a seven-day quarantine period during which they must follow bio-secure procedures before returning to the park.

As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore scheduled for Sunday in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, five members of the Delhi team’s ground staff and two Chennai Super Kings support staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.

So, will there be more game rescheduling in the coming days?

According to Meha Bhardwaj, a senior sports journalist who talked with a BCCI official, no other matches have to be rescheduled as of now.

He further mentioned that there is no reason for players who might have come into touch with a COVID-19 positive individual to be isolated since they are screened on a regular basis.

“Just spoke to a BCCI official, he says no other match has to be rescheduled as of now. Also said that if the players are being tested daily there is no need for isolation for the players who may have come in contact with a positive person”. #IPL2021 #KKRvRCB #COVIDIndia
