Chennai Super Kings to claim their third comprehensive win in the IPL 2021. It was Faf du Plessis and Rutuja Gaikwad who did the job with the bat for CSK. The opening pair invaded KKR’s bowling with a massive partnership of 115 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for 64 off 42 balls, while Faf played an undefeated inning of 95 runs of 60 balls. Moeen Ali (25 off 12) and skipper MS Dhoni (17 off 8) contributed decently to reach a giant total of 220. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar razed KKR’s top batting order including the wickets of Shubhman Gill for a duck, Nitish Rana (9), Eoin Morgan (7) and Sunil Narine (4).
However, Andrew Russel and Dinesh Kartik replied explosively to CSK bowlers until Sam Curran bowled him with a surprise delivery to Russel, sending him back to the pavilion for 54 off 22 balls. Sooner, Kartik (40) was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi for bringing out the huge chase down to the tailenders.
Nevertheless, Pat Cummins (66 off 34) kept the situation tight for Chennai, hitting 6 sixes and 4 fours. Unfortunately, Kolkata was all out for 202. Moreover, with this win, Chennai advanced itself to the first spot in the points table followed by RCB, who will play their next match tomorrow against Rajasthan Royals.
